Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0926453A2] The unit has a burner (1) placed in a flame tube (2) surrounded by a heating chamber (4), which is itself surrounded by a heat transfer insert (5). A water boiler (7) around the insert has regions (9-11) of different defined clearance geometry on its inner surface, determining the heat transfer from the insert. In the first region (9) close to the insert, the predominant way of heat transfer may be thermal conduction, whereas in the second region (10) near the outlet (13) for combustion gases from the flame tube, the predominant way of heat transfer may be convection and thermal radiation. The clearance in a third region (11) has a clearance between those of the other two regions pressure.
