[origin: EP0926646A1] The smoke detector has an alarm insert (2), an optical module (1) and an evaluation circuit, whereby the optical module has a light source (4), a measurement chamber (3) and a light receiver (5) connected to the evaluation circuit. The light source is designed to emit a beam in the visible wavelength range. The wavelength of the light emitted by the light source lies in the range of blue or red light and is pref. 460 or 660 nm.
