Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0830043A1] A base station contains at least one combined device to which at least two base station branches are connected for powering a cell. The transmission quality of a communication connection is monitored in each base station branch and base station branches for said communication connection are accordingly switched on or off in both transmission directions. The invention can also be implemented in base stations with cell powering sectoral antennas. The invention is particularly suitable for cellular mobile radio systems, such as the GSM mobile radio system.
