[origin: EP0927855A1] The heater (10) has its oxidant air feed (30) connected to the burned gas outlet flue (40) via a by-pass pipe (50) containing an adjustable shutter (60). During the ignition stage the shutter is partially opened, allowing some air to pass directly into the gas outlet flue while the remainder is fed to the heater to mix with the fuel gas. The shutter is designed so that when it is fully open it projects into the outlet flue and reduces its cross section
