[origin: EP0927980A2] The device has a housing (2) contg. a transmitter/receiver unit (8), a loss detection unit (9), a warning unit (7) and a power supply unit (10). An attachment device mounted on the housing enables the device to be worn by a person. A securing device enables the attachment device to be secured so that the transmitter/receiver device can only be removed from the wearer by the application of a force. The warning unit outputs a first alarm signal to the transmitter/receiver unit in the event of an emergency. The loss detection unit detects the removal of the portable transmitter/receiver unit from the wearer and outputs a second alarm signal to the transmitter/receiver unit in response. The transmitter/receiver unit transmits any received alarm signal wirelessly to a remote terminal.
