[origin: EP0929056A2] The system has at least one processor, a data memory containing. at least one processing program and an application library and addressable components with identifiable functions connected to the processor via a data communications path. The configuration method involves the following steps triggered by the processing program: setting the system into configuration mode; determining the functions and components; comparing them with the applications library; installing at least one application from the library with the determined components and functions and then setting the system into operating mode. An Independent claim is also included for a method of configuring the system.
