[origin: WO9815458A1] Tool enabling a belt (7) to be bound around an object, especially a cable form, containing a clamping device(8) for a tough elastic belt resistant to bending. Said device comprises a toothed tightening roller (10) and an abutment supporting the belt (7) on the side opposite to the tightening roller(10). The device is designed in such a way that when the tension of the belt reaches a predetermined level, the tightening roller (10) continues to turn in relation to the stationary belt and the belt tension is determined by the force of friction between the tightening roller (10) and the belt. A highly reproducible belt tension with little wear by friction can be obtained by providing the abutment with at least two supporting rollers (11) arranged consecutively on the perimeter of the tightening roller (10) and stretched against the tightening roller (10) by means of an elastic force. Dimensions are chosen by taking into account the belt's (7) resistance to bending so that the belt (7) can also be pressed heavily against the perimeter of the tightening roller (10) between the supporting rollers (11). The force exerted between the belt (7) and the tightening roller (10) for each unit of length is of the same magnitude as that which is exerted between the supporting rollers (11).
