[origin: WO9816673A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for assessing the quality of a yarn (1). In order to consider other quality-related aspects of a yarn and to determine their measured values so that the overall quality of a yarn can be fully assessed, measured values of the yarn regarding a friction-exposed yarn and a nonfriction-exposed yarn are obtained. A further measured value is worked out on the basis of both measured values indicating an additional quality feature.
