[origin: DE19736160A1] The fuel pump has a low pressure pump feeding a high pressure pump. The low pressure pump has a toothed impeller pump and is mounted to the high pressure pump housing, opposite to a drive input shaft (10). A main drive shaft (38) inside the pump drives radial pistons via eccentric cams, and is coupled to the low pressure pump by a membrane clutch (40). The low pressure pump is fitted onto aligning profiles (16,18) on the pump housing.
