[origin: EP0933201A1] During operation the drive rotates at a certain speed v and produces a drive torque. The speed v is lowered or raised in dependence on the load torque according to a load characteristic line so that the drive simultaneously sets the target speed and drive moment or web tension. A guide ideal value such as a speed or position ideal value is compensated according to the load characteristic line. The dependence between the change in the load moment and the lowering or raising of the speed can be linear or non-linear.
