[origin: EP0933497A2] This ground borer (10) has a shaft coaxial with the rotation axis (14), carrying drilling spiral(s) (13). At the pushing end (A), the cutter unit (16), extends radially from the axis. A novel feature is displacement of the radial sections of the cutter away from the axis. This gives rise to an initially-uncut central region (17). The cutters project forward (A), ahead of this central region. The shaft includes a surface (18) angled with respect to the axis. This pushes away the free-standing central core formed during drilling, urging it into the conveying region (20) of the drilling spiral(s).
