Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2318573A] A valve member 19 for a feeding bottle 10 comprises a resiliently deformable disc 20 having at least one aperture 24 extending therethrough, and a respective protrusion 25 surrounding the aperture(s) 24 and arranged on a first side of the disc 20, wherein the or each protrusion 25 is provided with a slit 27 such that a pressure difference acting from the first to a second side of the disc causes the slit(s) 27 to close, and a pressure difference acting from the second to the first side causes the slit(s) 27 to open, thereby allowing air to flow though the aperture(s) 24. A feeding bottle 10 is also disclosed which comprises a hollow body 11 having a first end adapted to receive a teat 12 and a second end which incorporates an air inlet valve 14 comprising a rigid retaining member 15 to accommodate a valve member 19 as hereinbefore described. The retaining member 15 may include a screw thread 16 to cooperate with a corresponding thread 17 on the second end of the body 11. Preferably the retaining member 15 comprises a disc member (23, Fig. 2a) to partially cover the aperture(s) (22, Fig. 2a) therethrough and may further comprise a protruding portion 28 adapted to abut cylindrical protection means (29, Fig. 4) which typically protect the retaining member 15 from the environment.
