[origin: WO9817563A2] The invention relates to a method of feeding a sheetlike material (50-54) into a printer. An externally located cover sheet (50-54) is removed from a pile of sheets and conveyed towards a section (a10-a12) of the transport path at a transport speed (V0, V1). The lower limit (v0) of the transport speed is the same as or greater than the transport speed (v0) of the sheets (50-54) in section (a1-a12). Conveyance of the sheet (52,54) is delayed until section (a10-a12) has been reached. Identical predetermined spacing (AS) thus occurs between immediately successive transported sheets (52,54).
