[origin: DE19645102C1] The mechanical switch for the operation of a drip-stop valve in a steam iron, controlled by heat, has a transmission lever (4) as a dedicated flat stamped bending component which at least partially covers the bimetal snap disc and strikes the snap disc edge (6) partially. It is fitted together with the centre of the bimetal snap disc (2). The mounting section (9,9') with the mounting opening (8) of the transmission lever (4) is cut to give a free tongue. The end (11) of the tongue is aligned towards a projecting operating end (12,12') of the lever (4) over the edge (6) of the bimetal snap disc (2), to work together with the valve.
