[origin: WO9912336A2] In order to decode full field teletext data using conventional teletext decoders which only recognise teletext data contained in lines of the vertical blanking interval, the full field data is divided into a plurality of channels each occupying no more than the number of lines in a vertical blanking interval. The data from a selected one of the channels is delayed before being applied to the decoder so that it occurs within the following vertical blanking interval.
