[origin: EP0936028A2] The device includes a holder (16) for a finishing stone (17), and a multiple-axis drive (22) for a relative movement between the surface (18) to be processed and the tool holder in a plane (21) orthogonal to the processing surface, which is defined through coordinates X and Y. The holder is held by a tilt arrangement (7) around a virtual tilt axis orthogonal to the X-Y plane, whereby the tilt angle of the holder is determined by the calculation devices. The device includes a clamping arrangement (13) for a workpiece (14), a finishing stone (17), a holder (16) for the stone, and a multiple-axis drive (22) for a relative movement between the surface (18) to be processed and the tool holder in a plane (21) orthogonal to the processing surface, which is defined through coordinates X and Y. A control unit is provided for the control of the drive device, comprising input devices for the input of the profile of the surface to be processed, and electronic calculation devices.
