[origin: EP0936129A1] The vehicle steering column adjusting system is of the type having a column assembly (2) associated with a fixed structure (3) on the vehicle. It operates with an adjuster (4) fitted with a locking system (5) which is displaceable a locked position and an unlocked position via a grip (6) operated by the user. One end (6a) of the grip is linked to the locking system (5) and another end (6b) has members (6e) which can be moved by the user. The grip has at least two telescopic parts (6c,6d) which are displaceable by the user, between a retracted position and a second deployed position so as to increase the lever arm of the grip.
