Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0936306A1] A process to combine a fiber suspension layer (1) with a further fiber suspension layer (2), where they are both brought together by layer carriers (3,4) into a wedge-shaped gap (5) for water extraction. The sides of the suspension layers (1,2) are restrained by guide surfaces (6,7). The guide surfaces are in contact with the sides of the suspensions directly before they come together and when they are combined, with no guide surface movement, or only a very restricted movement play. The guide surface contours are parallel to the layer carriers (3,4). An Independent claim is included for an apparatus with a fixed displacement body (10) in front of the wedge gap (5), with the guide surfaces (6,7). One guide surface (6) is generally parallel to the outer periphery of the facing cylinder section, and the other guide surface (7) is generally parallel to the facing fourdrinier (8). At least two fiber suspensions are fed into the wedge gap (5) from a stock inlet (11) at the upstream end of the wedge gap (5), between the cylinder (9) and the displacement body (10).
