Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0937521A2] For straightening of metal strips with variable thickness, the straightening rolls (14) in at least one roll frame (12) are controlled so that their distances from their associated straightening rolls (13) in the other roll frame (11) is altered dependent on the strip thickness variation. The claimed apparatus in the form of a strip straightening machine a) preferably the top roll frame (12) is designed so that it can execute a pendulum motion altering the distance between the successive roll pairs (13, 14); b) the pendulum drive (25) is provided with a control unit (26) which controls it according to a program specifying a pendulum motion of the roll frame (12) dependent on the thickness variation of the strip to be straightened.
