[origin: EP0940315A1] The steps are in the form of hinged steps which can be opened against the force of a spring acting in the closing direction by an electric motor (6) with an armature brake (9) which holds the hinged steps in the open position without the motor requiring power. The spring is a torsion spring mounted in the hollow rotation axle of the hinged steps.
