[origin: EP0940351A2] A suspension package (200) includes a frame (210) having two sides (212) and two ends (214) positioned around a central opening (216). Two end panels (222) are hinged at respective ends of the frame (210), and two side panels (218) are hinged at respective sides of the frame (210). A product restraining hammock (226) is mounted to extend between the end panels (222) over the opening (216). In use the end panels (222) are pivoted downwardly to tension the hammock (226) and to suspend a product in the opening (216). The side panels (218) are pivoted upwardly to space the frame array (210) away from an outer container into which the suspension package (230) is placed. The end panels (222) may be shaped as tubular beams to provide increased bending resistance. Additionally, a brace panel (230) can be formed as an integral extension of an end panel (222). Further, an extension flap (240') can be positioned within the central opening (216) to reduce the prospect that a package held in the product restraint (226) will strike the end beam (214) or an outside wall of a container housing the suspension package (200). <IMAGE>
