Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0940792A2] The method involves signal processing the output of at least one sensor of motor vehicle noise and analyzing it for characteristics specific to motor vehicles. A detection signal is output if such characteristics are detected. The analysis is conducted in several mutually independent stages (15, 16, 17) according to qualitatively different characteristics. A slave alarm signal is generated in each stage after extracting such a characteristic with sufficient confidence. The slave signals are combined to form a master alarm signal representing the detection or alarm signal.
