Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19725298A1] The invention relates to an electronically adjustable brake actuation system for motor vehicles, comprising a master cylinder (2) with a pressureless hydraulic fluid tank (3), a pressure source (20) which can be controlled by an electronic control unit (32) enabling pressure to be exerted upon the wheel brakes (7, 8, 9, 10) of the motor vehicle. Said brakes can be joined to the master cylinder (2) by at least one hydraulic connection (11, 14) which can be shut off by a block valve (12, 15). The invention is also provided with a device (13, 33) for detecting the driver's desire to decelerate, in addition to at least one separating piston (16) arranged upstream from the wheel brakes (7-10) and whose first chamber (17) can be connected to the master cylinder (2) and whose second chamber 919) can be connected to the pressure source (20) or the hydraulic fluid tank (3) by a valve device (27, 271). In order to improve the dosing of braking pressure in said system, the invention provides that the valve device (27, 271) is formed by a multiposition valve built like a gate valve, and that a switching seat valve (29) is inserted in the joint between the multiposition valve (27, 271) and the pressure source (20).
