[origin: WO9913270A1] A deodorizing apparatus using a combustion catalyst which is formed by rolling in catalyst foil provided with an insulating layer as a surface layer, and which can be heated with an electric current applied thereto; and a deodorizing method therefor. The deodorizing apparatus is capable of securing a large heating value and deodorizing a large quantity of a stink gas by using a combustion catalyst which is formed by rolling in catalyst foil provided with an insulating layer as a surface layer, and which can be heated with an electric current applied thereto, the use of such a combustion catalyst also enabling the stink gas to be heated speedily with ease to a catalyst activating temperature, the incomplete combustion of the stink gas to be prevented, and the miniaturization of the deodorizing apparatus to be attained.
