[origin: WO9815236A1] The invention relates to a dental prophylactic device, particularly suited for paramedical purposes, which detects and transmits information on tooth state to a display screen, as well providing dental care and cleaning teeth in an effective manner. The device is primarily intended for individual applications outside dental surgeries and comprises a power supply unit, a hand unit and slip-on components which are removably connected to each other. Said device is characterized by the fact that slip-on components are designed as selectably slip-on units for dental care and dental examination and a cable connection is provided for a monitor. One slip-on component is designed as dental examinination unit. Said component contains a video camera or ultrasonic device in headpiece in addition to functional elements which operate them. The video camera/ultrasonic device detects information on tooth state and transmits data via a conductor, contact and cable connection for direct image display on screen of a connected monitor. The headpiece can be connected via a hinge joint to the shaft of the slip-on component. One of the slip-on components is designed as a toothbrush for dental care.
