[origin: WO9916949A1] The invention relates to a false twist device for a synthetic multifilament yarn for use in false twist texturing machines, consisting of at least three sets of disks rotating in the same direction. Each disk is mounted on an axle. The axles are arranged in the shape of an equilateral polygon in such a way that the disks overlap in the centre of said polygon. The circumferential surface of the disks is the surface of the zone of a sphere or a toroid with a circumferential surface radius which is at least 35 times the diameter of the yarn being twisted. This ensures that the tension of the yarn can be kept to a minimum whilst maintaining a high yarn speed.
