[origin: EP0943435A1] A cooled roller has coolant introduced from one side and distributed inside the roller to flow out of the other side. The coolant is fed into a central distribution duct with outlet holes to feed the separate segments inside the roller. The size of the outlet holes increases away from the input side of the roller to ensure an even cooling effect on the inside side of the coolant flow. The return flow spacing also increase in size away from the input side to even out the coolant effect. The central distribution duct can be replaced by a tapering duct.
