[origin: EP0943455A2] A retracting fountain pen has a tubular body containing a nib on the front of an ink guide which connects the ink cartridge with the nib. A twist action extends and retracts the nib. The slotted guide which controls the twist action has an extended profile which when twisted further, pushes the end of the cartridge out of the rear of the body, pushing open a hinged end flap. The enables the user to pull out the cartridge and replace it with a fresh one.
