Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0944077A1] A cartridge handling system (12) for storing and accessing at least one data cartridge (14) may comprise a frame (26) having a first cartridge access side (20) and a second cartridge access side (22). A guide member (32) associated with the frame (26) includes a first section (58) located adjacent the first cartridge access side (20) of the frame (26) and a second section (60) located adjacent the second cartridge access side (22) of the frame (26). The first and second guide sections (58, 60) of the guide member (32) are connected together so that the guide member (32) comprises a substantially continuous member. A cartridge access device (36) having a cartridge access end (80) engages the guide member (32) so that the cartridge access end (80) is adjacent the first cartridge access side (20) when the cartridge access device (36) is located on the first section (58) of the guide member (32) and so that the cartridge access end (80) is adjacent the second cartridge access side (22) when the cartridge access device (36) is located on the second section (60) of the guide member (32). An actuator system (42) operatively associated with the cartridge access device (36) moves the cartridge access device (36) along the guide member (32). <IMAGE>
