[origin: EP0945391A2] The step (10) has a surface with a number of webs and grooves running in the direction of travel. The step is made of plastics, in particular glass-fibre reinforced plastics. There is a cut-out (26) in the rear edge of the step surface (12). The cutout receives a reinforcing strip (22) which cannot be lost. This is a hollow metal string and fits in the cutout with as little play as possible. The rear region of the step surface may have support ribs (28) on its underside, extending downward. The reinforcing strip passes through them.
