[origin: EP0945539A1] After an initial treatment in weak alkali the fabric is subjected to a main impregnation (1) followed by post impregnation (5) and a washing zone (19). The relative speeds between the main impregnation and the final squeeze rollers (9) is adjusted to set the required length and width in the post treatment zone (5). The main impregnation (1) takes place between rollers (2,4) to a concentration given by a formula but typically 50 - 300 g/l. Post impregnation (5) is to the final required concentration and follows the sequence of heated bath (6), squeeze rollers (4,7), overhead spray (11), squeeze rollers (7,8), heated bath, squeeze rollers (8,10), overhead spray and a vertical squeeze roller stand (9). The washing section (19) has overhead sprays (21) and suction boxes (23).
