Abstract (en)

At least one roller (6-9) forming the double soft nip pair (19-21) is heated. Preferred features: At least one of the two nips has a heated roller. Surfaces (22) forming the nip are smooth, with a mean roughness (Ra), of up to 0.5 mu m under operational conditions. Rollers comprise a hard core (11) and resilient surface layer (10) having a predetermined, high thermal conductivity. This layer is very thin, being less than 4 mm, and especially 0.02-2 mm thick. It is a plastic, applied as a coating. One roller (7) forming the double nip has an overcoat (13) of metal, ceramic or plastic on the surface layer. All central rollers have a resilient surface and are of the same construction.

Abstract (de)

<IMAGE>
