Abstract (en)
The system has at least one laser device for identifying at least one target device or object. The laser device transmits an encoded laser beam (11) and the target/object has sensors (61-67) for detecting the laser beam and converting it into electrical signals, a discriminator and a transmitter for sending messages to a receiver inside or outside the laser device depending on decisions made in the discriminator. The laser and target devices each contain a microprocessor, ultrasonic unit and/or radio unit. If the laser device does not receive a return message from the target device within a defined period of transmitting an encoded laser beam it transmits another laser beam with different encoding which causes the ultrasonic unit and/or the radio unit in the target device to transmit an acknowledgement which can be read by the corresponding laser device unit. An Independent claim is also included for a target device for an identification system and method of operating an identification system.

Ein Soldat (A) trägt eine Waffe mit sich, auf der ein Lasergerät (1) montiert ist, das zur Beleuchtung einer Gurtvorrichtung (6) am Körper eines anderen Soldaten (B) dient. Das Lasergerät und die Zielvorrichtung umfassen je einen Mikroprozessor sowie eine Ultraschalleinheit und/oder eine Funkeinheit (72; 71), derart, dass das Lasergerät, wenn es innerhalb einer Zeitspanne Ta nach Aussendung eines gebündelten codierten Laserstrahls keine Rückmeldung von der Gurtvorrichtung (6) erhält, einen weiteren Laserstrahl mit einer anderen Codierung sendet, die veranlasst, dass die Ultraschalleinheit und/oder die Funkeinheit der Zielvorrichtung eine Bestätigung übermittelt, die von der Ultraschalleinheit und/oder der Funkeinheit des Lasergeräts empfangen werden kann. <IMAGE>
