Abstract (en)

A metal workpiece (1) has increased corrosion resistance by blasting with grit which leaves grit debris as a corrosion resistant coating (2). The corrosion resistance of a metal workpiece (1) is increased by blasting with grit which causes deformation or structural modification of the workpiece surface and which produces corrosion resistant grit debris to form a corrosion resistant coating (2). An Independent claim is also included for a metal workpiece (1) having a deformed and compacted surface region (3) structurally bonded (preferably cold welded) to a coating layer (2). Preferred Features: The workpiece consists of an AlMgSi or AlMgSiCu alloy and the grit consists of aluminum or an AlMg alloy.

Ein Verfahren zum Erhöhen der Korrosionsbeständigkeit eines metallischen Werkstückes 1 durch Beschichten desselben mit einem Material 2, welches bezüglich des Werkstückes 1 eine höhere Korrosionsbeständigkeit aufweist, zeichnet sich dadurch aus, daß die Beschichtung 2 des Werkstückes 1 durch Strahlen der Oberfläche des Werkstückes 1 mit einem Strahlmittel unter Umstrukturierung oder Umformung der Oberfläche des Werkstückes oder von Teilen davon erfolgt, wobei ein Materialabrieb an den Körnern des Strahlmittels entsteht, welcher Abrieb eine höhere Korrosionsbeständigkeit als das Werkstück 1 aufweist und auf der Oberfläche des Werkstückes 1 eine mit dem Gefüge 3 verbundene Schicht 2 ausbildet. <IMAGE>
