[origin: EP0947880A1] The method involves automatic reading of data previously applied to the material strip (3) with respect to the images (30-32) on the strip, setting at least one cutting device to cut the material strip according to the data read in and cutting the material strip using the cutting device which has been set up. The data (33-35) is applied to the strip near the images when the images are applied. They can be in the form of electronically readable bar codes that can be printed or stuck onto the strip. Independent claims are also included for a cutting device and for material strip.
