[origin: EP0950597A1] A tracked system for vehicles on a support rail (1) has a toothed drive rack (4) under the track and gripped by drive toothed wheels under the vehicle. The middle line (6) of the rack is set at a defined spacing from one side of the track. The drive toothed wheels and the guide element are arranged so that a straight line joining the force contact point and a bearing point is perpendicular to the drive direction. A typical system has the middle line in the same plane as the midperpendicular (7) of the track. The vehicles each have three support wheels for a three point alignment with some of the wheel systems sprung to enable the vehicles to negotiate bends.
