The press section for processing a moving web (10), at a machine for the production of paper or cardboard, has two adjacent but separated shoe presses (20,24;22,26) with a suction transfer roller (36) between them. The web, passing round in a closed path, is under suction at least in zones and preferably together with a blanket (18) round the transfer roller (36) which moves through at least one of the two shoe presses. The blanket (18) which carries the web (10) round the suction transfer roller (36) is passed through both shoe presses (20,24;22,26). Both shoe presses can have two blankets moving through them with the web. The web has a closed guide path through the press section. A web holding box (40) is between the suction transfer roller (36) and the following shoe press (22,26). The blanket (14) which passes through the first shoe press (20,24), in the direction (L) of web (10) travel, also acts as a pickup blanket. At least one shoe press, and preferably both, has a lower shoe press roller unit (20,22) and an upper counter roller (24,26), or vice versa. The web (10) is carried by a lower blanket (18) or an upper blanket, against the shoe press units, through both shoe presses and round the intermediate suction transfer roller. The suction transfer roller (36) is on the same plane as the counter rollers (24,26) of the shoe presses, to lie above or below the plane through the press gaps between the press rollers. The counter rollers (24,26) have an inner support, and mantle surfaces which are smooth or ridged and/or have blind drillings. The press mantles at the press units have smooth, or ridged and/or blind drilled surfaces. The trailing press unit (22,26), in the direction (L) of web (10) travel, can have a single blanket passing through it, with the counter roller (26) in contact with the web (10). At least one of the press units (20,24;22,26) can be angled at 0-30 degrees to the vertical.

Eine Pressenanordnung zur Behandlung einer Materialbahn (10) wie insbesondere einer Papier- oder Kartonbahn umfaßt zwei getrennte, einander benachbarte Schuhpressen (20, 24; 22, 26) und eine dazwischen angeordnete Transfersaugwalze (36), über die die zumindest bereichsweise besaugte Materialbahn (10) in geschlossenem Zug geführt ist. Dabei ist die Materialbahn (10) vorzugsweise zusammen mit einem durch wenigstens eine der beiden Schuhpressen (20, 24; 22, 26) geführten Filz (18) über die Transfersaugwalze (36) geführt. <IMAGE>
