The transformer comprises two U-shaped iron core halves (11) and ring- or half-spherical insulating bodies (15) of electrically insulating material, surrounding a front surface area (18) of each leg. The insulating bodies work as spherical arc paths, and contain or are layered with a semiconductor material, to control the electric field. Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen Transformator, der insbesondere zur Verwendung in hochfrequent betriebenen Schaltnetzteilen zur Trennung hoher Potentialunterschiede und bei Leistungen von einigen Watt einsetzbar ist. Der Transformator weist zwei Eisenkernhälften (11) mit je einer Wicklung (12) auf. Jeder Schenkel (10) der Kernhälften (11) ist im Bereich seiner Stirnfläche (16) mit einem Isolierkörper (15) umgeben oder abgedeckt, wobei die Isolierkörper (15) halbleitendes Material enthalten oder damit beschichtet sind und ein Abstand (a) zwischen den Eisenkernhälften (11) besteht. <IMAGE>
