The engine has a crankcase with a cylinder head screwed to it and at least one liquid-cooled cylinder. There is a bushing is molded onto or inserted into the crankcase. The cooling jacket (5) is pushed onto the bushing and is clamped to the cylinder head. It is made of a material of a lower specific gravity than the rest of the cast material.

Bei einer Brennkraftmaschine mit einem Kurbelgehäuse, einem Zylinderkopf und Zylindern, die eine Laufbüchse und einen diese umgebenden Kühlmantel aufweisen, sind die Laufbüchsen an das Kurbelgehäuse angeformt oder in dieses eingesetzt und übertragen die Schraubenkräfte der Zylinderkopfschrauben auf das Kurbelgehäuse, während der Kühlmantel nur dazu dient, mit der Laufbüchse einen Kühlkanal zu begrenzen. Er kann daher aus einem leichten Werkstoff, z.B. einem Kunststoff oder einem Metallschaum, bestehen, wodurch das Gewicht der Brennkraftmaschine verringert wird. <IMAGE>
