[origin: EP0954009A2] The electromagnetic radiation source has an electron source (10) providing accelerated electrons in the form of an electron beam (12) and a drift sleeve (16) parallel to the longitudinal direction of the electron beam, acting as a waveguide for electromagnetic radiation in the gigahertz and terahertz range. The drift sleeve is subjected to an adjustable longitudinal magnetic field (30) and a transversal magnetic field (84), exhibiting magnetic resonance.
