Abstract (en)
An electrical connector for connecting to the end of an insulated wire comprises an insulative housing having a plurality of terminal receiving passages formed therein, a terminal inserted into each of the terminal receiving passages of the housing including an engaging aperture and an engaging projection, wherein the housing further includes a lance provided within each terminal receiving passage adapted to engage the engaging aperture of the terminal, and retainers mounted on outside surfaces of the housing pivotally mounted by way of a hinge for movement between an open and a closed position for engaging with the engaging projections of the terminals to prevent the withdrawal of the terminal from the housing. The retainer is formed with tool insertion holes formed therein for receiving an appropriate tool to move the retainer between its open and closed position. A reinforcement bead is formed on the engaging projection of the terminal to strengthen the engaging projection and improve the interengagement between the engaging projection and the retainer. The engaging projection includes an engaging edge defined by a reversed tapered edge to further improve the interengagement between the engaging projection and the retainer. <IMAGE>
