Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19702170A1] The cargo ship, for example a sea or inland waterway ship and also push tugs comprises a pallet rack store in the freight hold (SR), having on both sides of at least one rack aisle (RG) a plurality of adjacent and overlapping storage shafts(chambers) (1) for pallet units (PE), and in the rack aisle (RG), a movable rack vehicle (RFZ) which loads and unloads the pallet units. The rack vehicle (RFZ) accommodates, on one or both sides of a mast (2) mounted on a running gear, a satellite vehicle (4) which drives in an out of the storage shafts (1), obliquely to the direction of motion (F) of the rack vehicle (RFZ), which can move in lengthwise or crosswise direction in relation to the ship. The rack vehicle can be driven, with the satellite vehicles (4), up to the relevant ship's side (5) and beyond when the ship's freight hold (SL) extends outwardly, in order to load and unload the pallet units (PE).
