Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0955394A2] An internal copper dissolution preventative layer is produced on a copper pipe using an aqueous solution to form a basic copper carbonate or copper chloride layer. A protective layer is produced on the interior surface of a copper pipe by (a) filling the pipe with an aqueous oxidizing solution, leaving for 0.1-48 hr. at 10-95 degrees C, water rinsing and then drying; (b) wetting the pipe surface with copper ammonium chloride solution and then contacting with an oxygen-containing gas; or (c) electrodepositing the layer from a basic copper carbonate electrolyte solution, water rinsing and drying.
