Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0955408A2] A remoistening or humidifying atmosphere (28) is maintained for the atomized medium, near the atomizer (18). An Independent claim is included for corresponding coating equipment. Preferably the vapor used corresponds with the coating medium carrier fluid. The vapor is preferably steam employed for atomization. A two-fluid atomizer employed, has internal or external mixing. A rotary atomizer may be used. The vapor carries the aerosol onto the background being coated. Electrostatic forces augment this action. Vapor supply may follow atomization. An additional function of the vapor is to prevent entry of the potentially-disturbing boundary layer of air drawn by the moving surface, into the coating region (B).
