[origin: WO9743000A1] A package of defibrillator electrodes (60) having a data indication element (400), and a circuit for determining a date of manufacture (402) of the electrodes within the package (60), is provided. The package (60) includes a first and a second electrode, and an electrical interconnection means between them. This interconnection means electrically completes a circuit connecting the lead wire of the first electrode to the lead wire of the second electrode, and includes a date identification element (400), which, when subjected to an applied voltage by energizing means (404), generates a measurable affect representative of the manufacturing period of the defibrillator electrodes. The date identification element (400) may comprise a passive element, such as a resistor, whose measured value would represent the specific month of an electrode's manufacture. The date detection circuit (402) uses this measured value, and the defibrillator's real-time clock to determine whether the electrode's age is past its expiration period.
