[origin: WO9828505A1] The invention relates to a universal suspension element for profile rails (2) made of sheet-metal, which are open towards the top and have a cross-section in the shape of a C. Said suspension element consists of a single piece of sheet-metal (1) which on both ends has an anchoring section (3) with lateral incisions (4) for receiving the edges (2a) of the C-profile rails (2) pointing towards each other. The two anchoring sections (3) and the centre piece (5) are located substantially on the same plane before the universal suspension element is assembled. The invention provides for a weakness line (6 and 7) at each joint line between the centre piece (5) and the two anchoring sections (3) as well as in the middle of the centre piece (5) between these two joint lines. A series of holes (10) runs from one of the anchoring sections (3) until at least the middle of the centre piece (5). The weakness lines (6, 7) are each formed by two notches (8) made in the opposite edges (1a, 1b) of the piece of sheet-metal (1).
