Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0956883A1] The extinguisher (1) consists of a reservoir (2) of an extinguishing liquid, and a thermochemical gas generator (3) containing e.g. solid propergol which gives off carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water vapor on combustion and expels the water-based liquid in a fine spray. The gas generator is connected to a mixing chamber (4) fed by a controlled flow of gas and liquid to produce a mixture with a pressure of between about 0.5 and 10 MPa. The gas generator can be located inside or separate from the liquid reservoir.
