[origin: EP0956917A1] The metallurgical vessel incorporates devices which are positioned around the tapping hole (5), and serve for blowing a gas opposite to the melt flow direction (3) into the melt bath (4) to prevent hollow vortex formation during tapping. An Independent claim is also included for a method for tapping off molten metal comprising blowing of a gas into the vessel at least when the residual melt volume in the vessel has fallen below a specified value.
