Abstract (en)
The printer has two printing mechanisms (D1,D2), in which single sheet material to be printed on by each mechanism, is feed via the same input section (28). The printed sheet is then issued across a common output section (42). In an emergency operating mode, in the case of a faulty printing mechanism (D1,D2), the faulty mechanism is switched off, and the deflector (W1), only supplies sheet material to the non-faulty mechanism. The printer or copier operates in a number of different modes. A simplex operating mode has an increased throughput using the two printing mechanisms. A duplex operating mode has the sheet material supplied from the input section and the first printing mechanism (D1). The material from the first transfer transport path (44) is supplied across a connecting duct (48) to the second transfer transport path (46) of the second printer (D2), for printing the rear side of the material.

Beschrieben wird ein Verfahren, bei dem in einem Drucker zwei gleichartige Druckwerke (D1,D2) blattförmiges Material bedrucken. Bei einer ersten Simplex-Betriebsart mit erhöhtem Durchsatz werden den Druckwerken wechselweise blattförmiges Material zugeführt. Bei einer ersten Duplex-Betriebsart werden beide Seiten eines blattförmigen Materials durch einen der beiden Druckwerke bedruckt. <IMAGE>
