Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9715267A2] An adapter is disclosed for extracting a liquid from a container closed with a stopper or for filling this container closed by a stopper retained by a flange. The adapter has at least one spike at its front end for piercing through the stopper, a connector with an inner cone at its rear end for coupling medical apparatus and a flat gripping element in the intermediate area to facilitate mounting the adapter. A funnel open towards the rear end of the adapter is arranged on the connector. In addition, an elastic centring and holding element is arranged towards the front end of the adapter on the gripping element. The inner contour of the centring and holding element corresponds at least in sections approximately to the outer contour of the flange that retains the stopper on the injection container. The inner contour also has locking elements that engage at least sections of the flange. This adapter may be used to extract liquid from a container closed with a stopper or to fill the container with a liquid by means of a standard syringe. It allows liquids to be transferred in a quick and reliable manner, without any risk of injury and with little effort.
